Shown here is a test bed we developed that can patrol a outdoor area and notify the owner when trespassing occurs on his property. It uses the NavDrive controller hardware and software with its full complement of sensors including 3 front and 1 rear ultrasonic sensors. The robot is 32X24X 12 inches, weights 65 lbs, uses two 500 watt 90V DC motors, has a pneumatic suspension, which allows it to have a sustainable top speed of 15 m.p.h.
